Image | Song For You Here's how to place a request...

As part of our weekday schedule, we broadcast a programme called "A Song for You", every day from 8 till 9pm.

We broadcast a live version of "A Song For You" on Thursday evenings, when we are able to play your requests. If you would like to request a song or piece of music to be played for yourself, a member of your family or a friend, there are several ways that you can do this:

Our Ward Visitors visit the wards before the start of "A Song for You". If they are visiting your ward, then you just have to wait for one of them to visit your bed.  You can also place your request by telephone (details on the contact page). If no-one is able to answer the phone, then just leave a message on our answering machine and we will pick it up as soon as we can.   At Wansbeck General Hospital only, there is the facility to call the studio free-of-charge from the Hospedia Terminals by dialling *800. Staff at Hexham and Morpeth Cottage can also make a free call to NHR via the NHCT internal phone network.  Remember, listening to NHR on Hospedia is FREE - and you can hear us in digital stereo quality!

You can send an email to requests@nhr.org.uk, leaving all the relevant details or use the form below.

If making a request via telephone or email, then this is the information we will need: your name and, if you are not the patient, then we'll need the name of the patient, the ward they/you are on and the title of the song or piece of music and the artist or composer.

Don't worry if you do not know all of this information. We will still try and find your request. You can also ask us to mention a patient's name, leaving the choice of music to us.

Please note that although we have an extensive music library, it is not possible for us to find all requests. In these cases, we will play something which is either by the same artist, or failing that, an appropriate piece of music in a similar style. We are sometimes able to play the same song by a different artist.
